Cloning research leaves questions unanswered-Marco Vasquez

http://ajobonline.com/articles.php?viewCat=2&articleId=13

Cloning a human embryo is now at a "silver standard" it means we are getting closer in perfecting it. In this article it says that cloning is controversial but not in the wrong reasons. Many scientists who cannot practice human cloning in the U.S. have gone to other countries to work with other scientist where the government cannot interfere. They make a brief argument that as we in the U.S. deny this type of research we will one day be looking to other countries for their research of how they did it. The reason we may have to do that is because those scientists are creating these clones to further advance in medical science.

Why should we prevent cloning if is Attempting to solve many medical cures?  should we allow it if its for a greater cause?

  1. The only reason we should prevent cloning is the moral aspect. Cloning in a sense directly links to genetic enhancements and manipulations. The problem with cloning is that in reality, people are not only going to want to replicate himself or herself or another individual, but eventually rid of all the unnecessary flaws, heading towards the path of perfection. Yet by allowing this, humans are ignoring the basic idea of how individuals admire one another for their unique characteristics. I think that even though scientists have the capability to invent the technology to clone animals, humans, and other organisms, this does not mean that they have a right to do so. Unless cloning has a vital and beneficiary purpose to society, than it should be allowed. Because as of right now, the world is over populated, leaving many people homeless, jobless, and in poverty. Therefore creating replicas will only offset the already over populated human species. However, this would be an advantage for species that are on the verge of extinction.

  2. I think we should attempt to still not allow cloning because it reduces the significance and uniqueness that is human life. It makes sense that they would be used as a kind of surrogates that keep our organs ready incase of a medical emergency but there is still a lot that could go wrong like if the cloned organ had an undetectable disease or defect.
